MEDC Primary industry (farming/forestry) is less important. Increasing numbers are employed in the tertiary sector: leisure and tourism,  teleworking, (associated with counterurbanisation), and office work (associated with decentralisation). Mainly tertiary employment in the post-industrial knowledge economy
LEDC Large primary sector (farming). Large service sector. Many employed in the informal economy.
NIC Large but declining primary (farming) sector. Growing secondary sector (transnationals use cheap female labour in the countryside). Large secondary sector (transnationals), with a growing tertiary sector to serve the needs of the transnationals.
