Location: Llobregat Delta
This study gives students the opportunity to study
representative Mediterranean dune plants and pine woodland. Students will be
introduced to the ideas of plant succession, plant adaptation, and pioneer and
climax communities. Students will become familiar with a variety of sampling
methods, including the use of quadrats, line transects and belt transects.
Follow-up analysis can include a range of statistical techniques, including
standard deviation, Student's t-test and Spearman's Rank Correlation.
Details
This study requires just over half a day, with an evening
follow-up of 2-3 hours. Free time can be used for recreation on the beach, or to
explore the Llobregat Delta Nature Reserve, an important wetlands which supports
a wide range of birds, small mammals, and Mediterranean plants.
